Delicious field pea patties

Field peas thrive even up here in the north. One of my readers sent me this recipe for field pea patties and I just love them!

En tallrik med fina biffar av gråärt.
Ingredients
  • 1 3/4 oz chopped and pan-fried onion
  • 2 pressed garlic cloves
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp chili flakes
  • 1 tsp green pepper
  • 1/3 cup (3/4 dl) breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cups (around 100 g) coarsely chopped boiled field peas (dry peas need to soak in water before you boil them)

I got this recipe from one of my readers, Tina Frödin. The field pea is a neat little pea that you don't see very often in the supermarket, but I think everyone should grow it if they can.

Instructions:

Mix all the ingredients except for the breadcrumbs and the peas. Add these in the end.
Make 8 patties and pan-fry in oil or butter.

You can use your field pea patties for burgers, or simply serve them with mashed potatoes.

This looks amazing Sara, I wonder is it the same as a regular pea from the pods, I hope I can find this in America, or can I use regular peas, love the tile in your kitchen :0)

Hi Peggy! Yes, it is like regular peas. You can also use dried peas, (but they need to be soaked before you can use them.) Best of luck to you!
